Elective Selection Process – SOP
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Selecting Elective Subjects for Second-Year MBA Students
Purpose
To establish a systematic and transparent process for selecting elective subjects for second-year MBA students at MEASI Institute of Management.
Scope
This SOP applies to all second-year MBA students at the MEASI Institute of Management.
Responsibility
- The MBA Program Director/Academic Committee oversees the elective selection process.
- The Faculty Members are responsible for guiding students in selecting electives.
- The Students are responsible for meeting the eligibility criteria and selecting electives according to this SOP.
Procedure
1. Eligibility Criteria:Students must have completed their first-year second-semester MBA program and achieved at least 70% marks in the respective common subjects (Financial Management, Marketing Management, HRM, Applied Operation Research, and Operation Management) in their internals to be eligible for selecting electives.
Students must successfully complete two certification courses from Swayam or NPTEL, as identified from the list provided by the Internal SWAYAM Coordinator- SPOC.
Certification completion must be verified by the Internal SWAYAM Coordinator before elective preferences are submitted.
2. Elective Options: Based on their performance in the common subjects, students can opt for the following electives: – Finance Specialization: 70% marks in Financial Management – Marketing Specialization: 70% marks in Marketing Management – HR Specialization: 70% marks in HRM – Business Analytics Specialization: 70% marks in Applied Operation Research – Operation Management Specialization: 70% marks in Operation Management
3. Elective Selection Process: Eligible students must submit their elective preferences online or offline within a specified timeframe.
4. Verification and Approval: The MBA Program Director/Chairperson will verify the student’s eligibility and approve their elective selections.
5. Notification:The approved elective selections will be notified to the students through the institute’s website/notice board/email.

5. Notification:The approved elective selections will be notified to the students through the institute’s website/notice board/email.
Timeline
- The elective selection process will commence after the declaration of the first-year MBA results.
- The deadline for submitting elective preferences will be announced separately.
Review and Revision
This SOP will be reviewed and revised as necessary, at least once every two years or as required by the institute’s policies.
