Internal Grievance
Overview
The MEASI Institute of Management’s Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) was established in compliance with the rules established by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the 2013 Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act.
The committee’s goal is to provide all students, faculty, and non-teaching staff with a respected, safe, and secure academic and professional environment. It is committed to maintaining the values of justice, equality, and dignity in all facets of institutional life.
The ICC is dedicated to promptly, openly, and discreetly handling complaints and grievances, especially those pertaining to sexual harassment, gender-based discrimination, or any kind of professional misconduct. The group works to uphold a respectful and harassment-free school environment through awareness, intervention, and enforcement.
Objectives
- To stop, forbid, and address any harassment, discrimination, or victimization that takes place on campus.
- To foster an inclusive and respectful culture that will provide a welcoming environment for all institutional members.
- To promote candid dialogue and offer a secure avenue for voicing issues without worrying about reprisals.
- To guarantee that each complaint is resolved by an impartial, unbiased, and fair inquiry procedure.
- To uphold institutional integrity and accountability by suggesting corrective or punitive measures as needed.
- To raise awareness and educate the college community on respectful behavior, workplace ethics, and gender justice.
- To constantly evaluate and enhance workplace conduct and grievance handling rules.
Scope
Grievances and complaints pertaining to the following areas are handled by the ICC:
- Discrimination or harassment based on gender, including inappropriate behavior, verbal abuse, or unwanted behavior.
- Academic or professional misconduct, such as mistreatment or abuse of power.
- Any infringement of human rights, equality, or individual dignity within the institutional framework.
- Any complaints that have an impact on the community members’ safety, wellbeing, or morale at MEASI Institute of Management.
Functions of the Committee
- To accept and examine complaints about harassment or discrimination from teachers, staff, or students.
- To carry out sensitive investigations while maintaining impartiality, fairness, and secrecy throughout.
- To provide a humane approach to redress by offering impacted individuals emotional assistance and counseling.
- To advise the authorities on appropriate corrective or disciplinary measures in light of the findings of the investigation.
- To raise staff and student knowledge of gender sensitization and ethical behavior through training programs, seminars, and workshops.
- To keep an eye on, assess, and recommend changes to grievance redressal procedures when necessary.
- To ensure that complaints, actions taken, and preventive measures are properly documented and reported.
Composition of the ICC
The ICC was established in accordance with the 2013 Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and consists of:
The institution’s senior female faculty member serves as the presiding officer.
1. Faculty Members: Individuals with a range of educational backgrounds.2. Non-Teaching Staff Representative: To guarantee that all employee types are included.
3. External Member: A representative of an accredited non-governmental organization or a person with legal or social work expertise.
4. Student Representatives: To guarantee student involvement and representation, where appropriate.
This varied makeup guarantees neutrality, fair representation, and skill in efficiently managing delicate matters.
Procedure to Lodge a Complaint
Any MEASI Institute of Management employee, instructor, or student who encounters or sees harassment or discrimination may file a grievance using any of the following procedures:
1. Written Grievance: Send a signed complaint in a sealed envelope to the ICC member or the Presiding Officer.2. Email Submission: Send an email to [insert email ID], the official ICC email address, outlining your complaints.
3. Online Application: On the official website of the organization, complete and submit the Online Grievance Form.
4. In-Person Meeting: Speak with any ICC member personally to have a private conversation about the matter.
After receiving the complaint, the ICC will recognize it, carry out a preliminary evaluation, and start an investigation within the allotted period, making sure that all processes adhere to institutional and legal requirements.
Confidentiality
Throughout the procedure, the ICC upholds the strictest confidentiality. Every complaint, witness statement, and investigation report is treated discreetly and tactfully.
- Unless mandated by law or institutional policy, no information will be shared with anybody who is not directly involved in the process.
- At every level of the investigation, the identity and dignity of the complainant and the respondent are guaranteed by this confidentiality.
