MADRAS MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (MMA)

NATIONAL DIGITAL LIBRARY (NDLI)

The National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a government-supported digital repository designed to provide easy access to a vast collection of educational resources. Developed by IIT Kharagpur under the Ministry of Education, NDLI offers millions of books, articles, videos, question papers, and learning materials across diverse subjects and academic levels. The platform supports personalized learning, multilingual content, and open access to knowledge for students, teachers, researchers, and lifelong learners. By integrating resources from major national and international libraries, NDLI aims to make quality education accessible anytime and anywhere.

BRITISH COUNCIL LIBRARY (BCL)

The British Council Library (BCL) is a premier international resource centre that offers access to a rich collection of books, digital resources, and learning materials focused on English language, arts, culture, and education. Operated by the British Council, BCL provides membership-based services, including e-books, audiobooks, online learning platforms, and curated programs that promote global knowledge exchange. The library also supports students, educators, and professionals through workshops, cultural events, and English language development initiatives. With its modern facilities and extensive digital offerings, BCL serves as a vibrant space for learning, creativity, and international engagement.

AMERICAN LIBRARY CHENNAI (ALC)

The American Library Chennai (ALC), operated by the U.S. Consulate General, is a leading resource center that promotes cultural exchange and access to American knowledge and information. The library offers a wide collection of books, journals, e-resources, and multimedia materials covering topics such as U.S. history, literature, education, business, and global affairs. ALC provides membership-based services, digital databases, and learning opportunities for students, researchers, and professionals. Through workshops, author talks, information sessions, and outreach programs, the library fosters international understanding and supports academic and professional growth in the region.

DEVELOPING LIBRARY NETWORK (DELNET)

The Developing Library Network (DELNET) is a major resource-sharing network that connects libraries across India and abroad to promote efficient access to information. Established to support cooperation among libraries, DELNET provides a range of services including interlibrary loans, document delivery, union catalogues, and access to e-books, journals, and databases. Its extensive network enables students, researchers, and faculty to locate and obtain resources from thousands of member libraries. By facilitating knowledge sharing and improving access to scholarly materials, DELNET plays a vital role in strengthening research and academic development.

MMA ALL-INDIA MANAGEMENT STUDENTS’ CONVENTION 2024 REPORT

The MMA All-India Management Students’ Convention 2024 was held on 22 October 2024 at the IIT Research Park Auditorium, Chennai, bringing together over 300 management students from institutions across India. Organized on the theme “What Does It Take to Jumpstart a Successful Career?”, the event provided a full day of learning, interaction, and professional exposure.

The convention featured six business sessions covering career planning, future skills, resilience, job search strategies, leadership, and personal branding. These sessions offered practical guidance through expert talks, case studies, and interactive activities.

Student engagement was strengthened through competitions such as the Paper Presentation, Business Plan Contest, Management Quiz, and Beatmaking Challenge. Participants also competed for the prestigious “Chanakya – The Mastermind” Award for Best Management Student of the Year, which carried a cash prize of ₹10,000. Supported by sponsors including CavinKare, Danfoss, IndianOil, and BusinessLine, along with several academic partners, the event provided an enriching learning environment.

Overall, the convention equipped students with career-focused insights, enhanced confidence, and valuable networking opportunities, reinforcing the importance of goal setting, adaptability, and continuous learning in building a successful management career.

NDLI WORKSHOP REPORT

The National Workshop on Institutional Digital Repository, organized online by the Shreenivas Deshpande Library, IIT (BHU), Varanasi, was held on 19–20 April 2025.

The two-day program brought together over 60 librarians, researchers, and IT professionals to strengthen institutional capacity in building and managing digital repositories.

Led under the patronage of Prof. Amit Patra, Director, IIT (BHU), the workshop featured expert sessions by Dr. B. Sutradhar, Chief Librarian, IIT Kharagpur and Joint PI of NDLI, with coordination by Dr. Navin Upadhyay, Deputy Librarian, IIT (BHU). 

The objectives included introducing core concepts of digital repositories, demonstrating open-source platforms like DSpace, discussing metadata standards, and sharing open-access policies and practical case studies.

Sessions covered repository workflows, installation and configuration of DSpace, policy development, copyright considerations, and hands-on metadata design.

Participants also engaged in group exercises, peer discussions, and problem-solving activities.

Highlights included a live demonstration of the NDLI architecture and collaborative metadata mapping tasks.

Feedback indicated significant improvement in participants’ technical skills, policy awareness, and confidence in implementing digital repositories.

Many institutions expressed plans to launch or upgrade their repositories within six months.

Overall, the workshop effectively enhanced professional competencies and promoted collaboration, contributing to the long-term growth of digital scholarship and open knowledge access across Indian institutions.

ABILITY FEST 2025 REPORT

The Ability Foundation announced the “60 Seconds to Fame!” All India One-Minute Film Competition on Disability as part of its ongoing efforts to promote disability inclusion and awareness. The event invites participants nationwide to create one-minute films based on the theme “Through your lens: A celebration of disability inclusion.”

Open to all Indian citizens, the competition offers ₹2.25 lakhs in prize money, with entries to be submitted by 31 May 2025. Winning films will be screened at AbilityFEST 2025, India’s leading international disability film festival known for showcasing cinema that highlights the experiences, achievements, and rights of people with disabilities.

The competition aims to inspire filmmakers, students, and the public to tell impactful stories that challenge stereotypes, advocate for accessibility, and highlight empowerment. The process is validated by the Madras Management Association (MMA) to ensure fairness and transparency.

Participants can register and submit their films through the Ability Foundation website or contact the organizers via email or phone for assistance.

Overall, the “60 Seconds to Fame!” competition serves as a meaningful platform to celebrate disability inclusion and amplify voices that contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society.
