Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Policy
Overview
The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, which was released by the Indian government, is the basis for MEASI Institute of Management’s Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Policy.
This policy represents the institution’s unwavering dedication to providing a respected, safe, and secure environment for all members of its community, including staff, teachers, and students.
The POSH Policy aims to stop, forbid, and address any sexual harassment that occurs on the campus of the college or at any related event, activity, or workplace.
MEASI Institute of Management works to uphold an environment of respect, equality, and professional integrity through awareness, sensitization, and an efficient grievance procedure.
Objectives
- To establish and preserve a secure workplace and educational Setting free from discrimination based on gender or sexual harassment.
- To foster an environment where everyone in the organization is treated equally and with respect.
- To stop sexual harassment by implementing proactive initiatives for awareness, training, and education.
- To provide a clear and equitable redressal system for quickly and efficiently handling complaints.
- To uphold the rights and dignity of every person by guaranteeing privacy and unbiased investigation.
- To encourage ethical workplace conduct and gender sensitization through campaigns, posters, and workshops.
- To completely abide by the POSH Act, 2013’s legislative framework and any further revisions.
Scope
All members of the MEASI Institute of Management community are subject to this policy, including:
- Teachers and non-teaching workers are considered faculty.
- Contractual and administrative staff
- Students (visiting, full-time, and part-time)
- Visitors, advisors, suppliers, and service providers who interacted with the organization.
Any sexual harassment that takes place is covered by the policy:
- During institutional events or on the institution’s grounds.
- During training, fieldwork, internships, or academic excursions via digital communication, such as social media, emails, and texts pertaining to relationships within institutions.
Definition of Sexual Harassment
Any unwanted conduct or action, whether explicit or implicit, is considered sexual harassment under the POSH conduct, including:
- Advances and physical contact
- A solicitation or demand for sexual favors
- Making sexually suggestive comments
- Displaying offensive or pornographic images
- Any additional unwanted sexual behavior that is verbal, physical, or nonverbal.
- Sexual harassment also encompasses circumstances in which such behavior interferes with a person’s performance at work or in school or produces an environment that is insulting, hostile, or intimidating.
Functions of the POSH Committee
- To accept and handle sexual harassment accusations from staff, instructors, and students.
- To carry out unbiased investigations in a timely way while adhering to legal due process.
- To must uphold impartiality and secrecy throughout the inquiry.
- To suggest suitable disciplinary measures in light of the results.
- To plan frequent sensitization and awareness campaigns for all institutional members.
- To examine and revise institutional policies to make sure they adhere to best practices and legal requirements.
- To provide yearly reports on the quantity and type of cases addressed, as well as the preventive actions implemented, to the appropriate authorities.
Procedure to Lodge a Complaint
One of the following channels may be used by anyone who witnesses or experiences sexual harassment at the MEASI Institute of Management:
1. Written Complaint: Send a signed written complaint to the Internal Complaint Committee’s (ICC) Presiding Officer.2. Email Submission: Describe the issue in an email sent to the official ICC email address, [insert official email ID].
3. Online Submission: Complete the POSH Grievance Form found on the official website of the organization. 4. Reporting in Person: For private assistance, speak with any ICC member personally.
In accordance with the POSH Act, the ICC will acknowledge receipt of the complaint, carry out an initial evaluation, and launch a formal investigation within the allotted time frame.
Confidentiality
- In all POSH processes, the MEASI Institute of Management upholds strict secrecy.
- Every statement, document, and piece of information is kept private andshared only with those who are required to know.
- It is strictly forbidden to divulge information to unapproved parties about the complainant, respondent, witnesses, or investigation process.
- This guarantees everyone’s privacy, dignity, and safety during the procedure.
Preventive Measures and Awareness
In order to foster a culture of knowledge and respect, the organization regularly hosts events like
- Seminars and workshops on gender sensitization.
- Instructions on identifying and avoiding harassment for employees and students.
- Campus-wide circulars, promotions, and banners raising awareness.
- Support services and counseling for impacted people.
