Anti Ragging Policy
Overview
Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited at the MEASI Institute of Management.
In compliance with the orders of the Supreme Court of India, the University Grants Commission (UGC), and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the institute is steadfastly dedicated to making sure that its campus continues to be a respected, safe, and peaceful place for every student.
It is totally forbidden to engage in any kind of ragging, whether it be psychological or physical, both on and off campus. This includes hostels, transportation, and any events or activities related to the university.
This policy upholds the institute’s dedication to safeguarding each student’s uniqueness and dignity as well as to preserving an atmosphere that fosters study and personal development.
Objectives
- To stop students from being harassed or ragged in any way, both on and off campus.
- To foster in kids a culture of discipline, empathy, and respect.
- To raise awareness of the negative consequences and legal ramifications of ragging.
- To create an open system for reporting and handling ragging-related issues.
- To guarantee prompt and suitable punishment for anybody found guilty of participating in or encouraging ragging.
- To use counseling and orientation programs to help students develop a sense of solidarity and respect for one another.
Definition of Ragging
Any behavior by a student or group of students that causes or is likely to cause physical or psychological injury to another student is considered ragging, according to the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009.
- It engages in practical pranks, rude language, or mocking directed at a new student.
- It compels a pupil to carry out actions that are offensive, degrading, or against their will.
- Interferes with academic pursuits or fosters a hostile atmosphere within the organization.
Therefore, any act of abuse, humiliation, intimidation, or exploitation committed individually or collectively, whether directly or indirectly, is considered ragging.
Prohibition of Ragging
All sorts of ragging are absolutely forbidden at the MEASI Institute of Management.
Any student caught engaging in, trying to engage in, or encouraging ragging on or off campus will be subject to harsh disciplinary and legal consequences, which may include:
- Suspension or dismissal from the organization.
- Admission cancellation
- Exam- or placement-related debarring
- Submitting a police report in accordance with applicable Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections.
Scope
- All students at the university, including undergraduate, graduate, and research scholars, are subject to the Anti-Ragging Policy.
- Canteens, classrooms, hostels, and other academic or residential spaces
- Transportation options, educational excursions, business trips, and sporting and cultural events
Functions of the Anti-Ragging Committee
The MEASI Institute of Management’s Anti-Ragging Committee is in charge of making sure this policy’s contents are carried out successfully. Among its primary duties are:
- To actively monitor and prevent any incidences of ragging on campus.
- To accept and respond to ragging complaints from staff, parents, or students.
- To swiftly and openly look into complaints while maintaining fairness and confidentiality.
- To suggest corrective or disciplinary measures in light of the investigation’s conclusions.
- To hold staff and student orientation workshops and awareness campaigns.
- If necessary, to work in tandem with local law enforcement agencies in serious situations.
- It must report on activities done on a regular basis to regulatory authorities and the director of the institution.
Procedure to Lodge a Complaint
One of the following channels may be used by any student who witnesses or experiences ragging:
1. Written Complaint: Send a signed complaint to the institution’s head or the Anti-Ragging Committee.2. Email Submission: Write to [insert email ID], the official anti-ragging email address.
3. Online Complaint Form: Complete and submit the Anti-Ragging Grievance Form found on the official website.
4. Helpline: You can reach the National Anti-Ragging Helpline by email at [email protected] or by calling 1800-180-5522 (toll-free).
5. In-Person Reporting: For prompt assistance, speak with any faculty member, warden, or committee member.
Preventive Measures and Awareness Programs
The following actions are taken by the organization to foster a culture of safety and respect:
- First-year students can learn about anti-ragging legislation and practices through orientation sessions.
- Frequent awareness initiatives using seminars, posters, and circulars.
- Helpline numbers and anti-ragging policies are posted throughout the campus.
- Mentors are appointed by teachers and students to assist and mentor newcomers.
- The Anti-Ragging Committee has periodic assessment meetings to guarantee diligence and compliance.
Disciplinary Action
Depending on the seriousness of the offense, ragging convictions may result in one or more of the following disciplinary actions:
- Written caution or guidance.
- Prohibition from using campus facilities or classes.
- Exam- or placement-related debarment.
- Removal from the institution or the hostel.
