Caste Discrimination Policy
Overview
The MEASI Institute of Management is steadfastly dedicated to preserving the Indian Constitution’s tenets of justice, equality, and inclusivity. The organization has a zero-tolerance policy for any kind of discrimination based on caste.
In order to guarantee that no student, faculty member, or staff member is subjected to discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, religion, community, language, or social background, this policy has been developed in accordance with the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC), AICTE, and the Government of India.
The Institute wants to establish and maintain a campus community that values equality of opportunity, harmony, and respect for one another.
Objectives
- To stop and eradicate discrimination based on caste in the institution’s professional and academic settings.
- To protect each person’s rights and dignity, irrespective of their social, cultural, or community identification.
- To advance social justice and inclusivity by education, awareness, and sensitization.
- To provide an open and equitable system for handling complaints about discrimination or bias based on caste.
- To guarantee accountability by promptly and appropriately punishing anyone found guilty of such misbehavior.
- To create an environment on campus that values equality and diversity in all of its manifestations.
Scope
All members of the MEASI Institute of Management community are subject to this policy, including:
- Students (exchange students, research scholars, full-time, and part-time).
- Both teaching and non-teaching personnel.
- Vendors, administrative staff, and contract workers.
- Participants in institutional activities, consultants, and visitors.
All interactions and activities both inside and outside the organization are covered by the policy, including:
- Classroom relationships and academic activities.
- Administrative offices, labs, libraries, and dorms.
- Extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
- Online and digital communications pertaining to institutional matters.
Forms of Caste Discrimination
Any action, behavior, or habit that either directly or indirectly shows prejudice, bias, or animosity toward an individual based on caste or community is considered caste discrimination.
It denies someone access to social, administrative, or academic resources because of their caste identification. insults, degrades, or separates a person from society through words, actions, or treatment.
It promotes or condones offensive comments, jokes, or exclusionary behaviors, impacts caste-based hiring, promotion, evaluation, and grading.
Functions of the Anti-Discrimination Committee
- In accordance with UGC rules, the institution has established an Anti-Discrimination Committee to guarantee the successful implementation of this policy.
- The committee is in charge of: Receiving grievances or complaints from faculty, staff, or students regarding discrimination based on caste.
- It conducting unbiased investigations while upholding justice and secrecy.
recommending punitive or corrective actions in light of the investigation’s conclusions. - Putting together sensitization and awareness campaigns to advance inclusivity and equality.
- Keeping an eye on the atmosphere on campus and making sure that institutional and legal requirements are being followed.
- Submitting, as needed, regular reports to the Head of Institution or UGC regarding complaints, preventive measures, and resolutions.
Procedure to Lodge a Complaint
Any of the following methods may be used by anyone who encounters or observes caste-based discrimination:
1. Written Complaint: Send a signed complaint to the institution’s head or the Anti-Ragging Committee.2. Email Submission: [insert official email ID] is the official anti-discrimination email address.
3. Online Application: Complete the Caste Discrimination Complaint Form found on the official website of the organization.
4. Reporting in Person: Reach out to any committee member for help and a private conversation.
Preventive Measures and Awareness Programs
In order to prevent discrimination and promote equality, the school takes proactive measures, such as providing new students and staff with orientation sessions on social harmony and inclusivity.
