FDP ON ESSENTIALS OF CASE STUDY WRITING
The Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Essentials of Case Teaching and Writing” held on 11–12 December 2021 was designed to enhance faculty competencies in using the case method as a pedagogical tool and developing impactful case studies for teaching and research in management and related fields.
Program Objectives
- The FDP aimed to strengthen faculty skills in case teaching techniques and case writing, ensuring participants could integrate these approaches into their curriculum effectively.
- Sessions typically covered the rationale and philosophy behind case-based learning, techniques for classroom delivery, and methodology for developing and documenting cases.
- By focusing on case analysis and case creation, the program supported faculty members in developing decision-making, problem-solving skills in students, and creating publishable case research.
Target Participants
- The event primarily targeted university educators, management teachers, and academic researchers interested in adopting the case method for teaching, research, or documentation of business initiatives.
- Corporate trainers and research scholars were also encouraged to attend, given the broader applicability of the case approach across disciplines.
Features and Pedagogy
- The training included lectures, case method demonstrations, and interactive discussions.
- Emphasis was placed on effective case teaching strategies—such as asking open-ended questions, board planning, and facilitating student engagement.
- Some sessions also highlighted the differences between cold and warm calls in class and guidelines on guiding student participation.
